St James Place, Morpeth

The Build

Our St James Place development consists of 16 new build executive apartments located in the prestigious market town of Morpeth, Northumberland. The aim of the developer, Dacre Street Developments Limited, was to enhance the desirable location the site was based and create beautiful apartments that will stand the test of time. As the Main Contractor, Pringle Building Services Ltd exceeded these expectations by utilising the hard-working skilled tradesmen we employ and the high-quality materials from local suppliers to surpass the standard of luxury expected from a build such as the St James Place development.

The scheme included:

  • Demolition of existing care home
  • New build of 16 apartments set within 3 blocks
  • Construction of an external storage building
  • Formation of car park
  • Landscaping

The build was set with a 10-month deadline, which we successfully met. The initial processes began with the removal of asbestos from the existing build, followed by the demolition. The foundations were then dug up and excavated in preperation for the new structural building works. Competion of the build was in October 2016 and it was crucial to complete by the deadline as all apartments sold off plan with residents scheduled to move in. The thoroughness of the Site Manager and skilled workers ensured that the St James Place project met the deadline and that the buildings were signed off in time for the new residents.

The Design

The architectural design of St James Place is heavily influenced by Georgian architecture. It is a statement build that is perfectly suited to the surrounding traditional properties. The classic red brickwork with the artstone detailing is a contrast that draws the eye of all passers-by. Once the eye is drawn other exquisite features are noticed, such as the decorative gutter hoppers, the detailed roof line, the classical columns, the grand elongated timber framed windows and the Juliet balconies which reflect the beauty and elegance of the Georgian architectural period.

Access to the complex is gated, at both front and rear, to make it an exclusive site that only residents and welcomed visitors can enjoy. Relaxed and private gardens to the rear have been landscaped to make the most of the space. Colour has been injected into the development through the planting, which is at its best during the summermonths, but due to careful consideration the gardens will look effective all year round. The front of the development is enclosed with trees, creating a seluded area whilst still allowing sunlight to shine through onto the south facing properties.

Impressive Georgian entrance doors provide a unique and striking way to greet guests into your home and attention to detail in aspects such as the oak staricase create a grand yet homely welcome in the open and airy passage ways. All apartments have been designed to incorporate a spacious layout and contemporary internal design which plays on the natural light and open space of the apartments.

The kitchens are the work of the renowned Pol Kefton. Each kitchen is sophisticated and sleek with all modern conveniences necessary to live an easy, luxurious life. All items from the Siemens appliances, Silestone quartz worktop and quality German kitchen furniture right up to the statement breakfast bar have been considered carefully to create a place you want to spend your time. All Bathrooms and en-suites are made complete by Villeroy & Boch fittings, porcelain floor to ceiling tiles, light up mirror and spacious walk in showers.
